It is with great sadness that the Chairman and Committee of Senior Blades have to inform all members of the passing of one of our recent Committee colleagues, David Hughes.
David passed away very suddenly on 22 November, having only retired from the Committee at the AGM in June this year.
He served on the Committee for sixteen years doing a brilliant job as Treasurer. Alongside this role he also covered two other areas, all of which are now separate roles carried out by three Committee members. He was responsible for the lunch bookings and allocation of seating arrangements and then also dealt with all membership applications and renewals. On top of all this, he undertook the planning and organisation of the Annual Bowls competition, but reluctantly handed this over about three years ago. His contribution to the continued growth and running of Senior Blades has been invaluable.
David will be very much missed by his colleagues and friends at Senior Blades and our heartfelt condolences go to his wife Audrey and family Jane, Geoffrey and Sally.
The funeral will be held on Tuesday 17 December at 12.30pm at Hutcliffe Wood Crematorium.
