The second part of our final excursion took us to St George’s Park, set in the heart of the countryside near Burton on Trent. We were met by the guides and divided into two groups for the tour. The facilities are excellent with equipment in the fitness suites costing into the millions of pounds. All round the building are reminders of some of the great players who have graced the England teams over many years, with the original FA cup being on display too. We were very lucky to see Steve Holland, assistant manager to Gareth Southgate (who was also there but due to go into a meeting). Steve readily agreed to have a photograph with the group and afterwards, remarked to our Publicity Officer that he thought Chris Wilder was doing a great job with the Blades and how well the team were doing. Nice compliment from the England set up eh?
