Sheffield United Football Club
have requested Senior Blades to let members know the following
RIP John McSeveney
Sheffield United is saddened to learn of the passing of former assistant manager, John McSeveney, aged 89.
He joined the Blades as assistant to Ian Porterfield from Rotherham United in June 1981, having worked with him at Millmoor, and became a key part of the backroom staff that lifted the Fourth Division Championship trophy in 1982, as well as promotion back to Division Two in 1984.
Well regarded by players and staff alike, John departed just a few days after Ian Porterfield in 1986
Senior Blades had welcomed John as a lunch guest on several occasions and members were always delighted to see him and reminisce about his time with the Club.
The condolences of all the Blades are with John’s family at this sad time.
