The Bowls tournament went ahead on 21st September 2021. This was the first competition for two years, in 2019 torrential downpours and flooded greens meant we had to abandon the event at 11.30am. In 2020 the competition was a casualty of the Covid pandemic and the event was cancelled.
This year we managed to hold the tournament once again at the Hollinsend Bowling Club. Our thanks go to John Earnshaw and his team for all their help. Thanks also to Sheila and Howard Matthewman for their help on the day and also organising the refreshments.
Because of fewer entries than in past competitions, we had to change the format a little. We played a series of ’round robins’ in order for the players to qualify for the knock-out events. This also enabled the players to have more than just one game. The weather was kind to us with plenty of sunshine. There was a very competitive atmosphere amongst the players.

JEAN COLEMAN 7 v 9 DON JOHNSON
Both Jean and Don have recently celebrated their 90th birthdays, well done to the two of you.
A number of players commented on how enjoyable the day had been, and would be happy for the Senior Blades to have a similar event next year.
